The ministry of health in Uganda will tomorrow 16th June 2020 kick off a Malaria campaign programme tagged: ‘Under the Net’.
The programme will feature the flagging off of mosquito nets from the National Medical Stores at Mirza Road,Katabi Entebbe in Uganda. This is to set districts for the distribution of mosquito nets under wave one.
The campaign is “aimed at promoting use of these mosquito nets to protect our people from Malaria,” Dr. Diane Atwine, the permanent secretary, Ministry of Health Uganda tweeted on her verified Twitter handle.
In an apparent reference to COVID-19, the Permanent secretary also noted that the country would soon commence mass distribution of masks.
This was in response to a comment to her on Twitter. She wrote that some districts had already got the masks but others would soon get. She tweeted:
“The mask distribution campaign is also underway. Masks have already reached some districts. We started with the high risk districts like points of entry.”
It will be recalled that Uganda flagged off the distribution of facemarks on June 10, starting with the border districts of Adjumani,Amuru,Kyotera and Rakai.
Uganda currently has a total of 705 cases and 299 recoveries from COVID-19 and no single death according to the ministry of health.
