Uganda has said that it was applying for COVID-19 vaccine and will begin vaccination with health workers.
This was revealed by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Health, Dr. Atwine Diana on Thursday during her regular Twitter chat #AskDiana.
This was disclosed on the verified Twitter handle of the Ministry of Health Uganda.
In the tweet, Diana said there were a number of vaccines on the stage and that Uganda was applying for the vaccine that will be prioritized for health workers and the vulnerable before scale up.
Diana said:
“I am glad to tell you that there are a number of vaccines on the global scene. We are applying for vaccine and we are phasing it in such a way where we begin with the health workers, vulnerable groups and then scale up”
The Permanent Secretary did not disclose the particular COVID-19 vaccine Uganda was applying from and the country from which it was applying for it.
