Health Ministry, Security And Revenue Authority Partner On Border Screening In Uganda

The minister of health, Uganda, Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng has thanked health workers, security agencies and the Ugandan Revenue Authority for adhering to standard operating procedures (SOP) for screening of immigrants at the border.

The SOP was developed by the Ugandan ministry of health for COVID-19.

The minister disclosed this during her visit to Elegu border – the border between South Sudan and Uganda.

She also expressed satisfaction with the fact that the staff at the border were carrying out swift screening of truck drivers.

As at May 28, 2020, there are 317 cases of COVID-19 in Uganda. Of the 36 cases that tested positive on 28th of May, 24 were truck drivers and 12 were contacts of truck drivers that were previously confirmed for COVID-19.

Also, as part of efforts to prevent the importation of COVID-19, trucks entering Uganda from Rwanda are being disinfected at the border.

This was disclosed by the Ugandan ministry of health as part of activities of the ministry on COVID-19.
